I first met Michael at the 2017 International AIDS Summit where I was covering the event and taking portraits of various speakers and we immediately hit it off. I mentioned I’d be in Sydney the following week and asked if I could photograph him in his chambers. For such an accomplished man, I wasn’t expecting the session to be so much fun.
